hello! this update was meant to go on my birthday, but as luck would have it, my equipment scheduled some maintenance for me. after a fresh install of alpine on my server, i am free from nix forever.
- twenty one. 🎂 i promised i would write about it, but as i sat down to write a full article, i found myself hitting dead ends. i think the tl;dr is that i'm doing so much better than last year, and i've found purpose and drive in my life. i quit my job, moved to europe, became much more comfortable with my artistic process, found a community of good friends, and proposed to the love of my life. there were a few tough spots throughout the way — perhaps the toughest i've had — but all in all i'm excited for what 2026 might bring.
- i've rewritten the writing page to look more like a blog, i guess. i noticed a few months back that the form of that page doesn't really let me write anything without reason, and i shouldn't need a reason to write. i hope that next year i can write more stuff, whether or not it's of any immediate value.
- listened to Feed Me Weird Things by Squarepusher. what a fun little album this is. i downloaded it on a whim after noticing i was looping the one jungle-ish track on my library, and i do not regret it. favourite track has got to be the opener, Squarepusher Theme.
- i've been getting very into American football during this NFL season! it tickles my brain in a way no other sport ever has. you can read my rambles about it here, but i think i just had my rite of passage as a true ball fan: i managed to hold a discussion with someone about this season for fifteen minutes without them realizing i'm not even from the USA. go bears!
